So just over a week ago my son and I came back from England after a quick 5-day visit. I have gotten so used to the quiet life here that going back to the city usually fills me with dread! Don't get me wrong I haven't been a country bumpkin all my life. Growing up in Birmingham, I have always been used to city life. I worked there, lived there and I know what it's like. But since moving to Spain I have become accustomed to the slow pace of life that the idea of going back (even just for a … [Read more...]
From Valencia to the UK and anywhere else our itchy feet takes us. We love Spanish fiestas, trips to the mountains, beaches and of course children, couples and family friendly locations!
Water Parks to visit in Valencia
Summer holidays is not complete until we take a trip to the water park and we feel very fortunate that there are so many to choose from around the Valencian Community. I wanted to share my top three picks of the nearest water parks to visit around Valencia, just over an hour away from our home, it's very easy to get to and the drive is also a pleasant one. We try and avoid the peak months so we get the place to 'ourselves'. June and early July are the best months visit. Otherwise, many … [Read more...]
#SnapHappyBritMums: Pyrenees Mountains
A photo I took on the Pal-Arinsal ski slopes from our family road trip to Andorra. The view was amazing! The kids had a great time tobogganing while I sat and watched (and drank wine!) :P … [Read more...]
Family Roadtrip: Valencia to Andorra
This post is long overdue. I have been meaning to write up about our trip to Andorra just after Christmas. This trip didn't take much planning and it was something that we and our friends have decided at the last minute. The idea came up when I mentioned to my friend about how my youngest really miss playing in the snow, more so as the festive holiday approached. It's been over 3 years since he'd played or seen snow. So we thought it would be a great idea, along with our friends who also have … [Read more...]
Homework and packing
A few days ago I updated you about what’s been going on lately about our house moving plans. I’m glad that I mentioned it because as if, by magic, we have been contacted by one of the properties that we really like! Hallelujah! At last! Somewhere that my husband and I agree on. It’s not far from where we are now. The house is energy efficient, with enough rooms for guests, central heating are just some the things that we have on our list. I spoke to the owner and she’s really interested … [Read more...]
Boutique Hotel In Valencia: Caro Hotel
The more I visit Valencia the more I fall in love with the place, so it was no brainer when my husband and I decided to take another weekend break just 30 minutes drive from our home. I tend to visit the city often, but not to sightsee, I guess I forget to appreciate it now that it’s been my home for nearly three years. But it’s always something we enjoy. Last time we had a leisurely break in the city was back in June. Spending time together even just for a day is something that we take … [Read more...]
Flamenco In Valencia
Over the weekend, we found ourselves child-free, thanks to my in-laws who came to visit last week from the UK. They kindly offered to take the children off our hands so that my husband and I can spend a little alone time together. ;) We didn't waste any time organising what we wanted to do, which was to spend the weekend in the city. Check out places we've been meaning to for a while, and also to enjoy a rare night out and visit a flamenco bar that's been recommended to us by a good … [Read more...]
My upcoming trip to the UK
Excited! The first word that comes into my mind! I have finally organised my trip back to the UK for next month! Flights and hotels are booked the only thing left to do now is to look forward to seeing my much-missed family and friends! This trip will also be a little break for me, sin hijos and all! How I treasure these little breaks from normality and it gives me some time with friends who I have not seen for a while, some since I left for Spain. It’s been long overdue and thrilled at the … [Read more...]
Why Going To The Fallas In Valencia Should Be On Your Bucket List
So, it’s that time of year again, as the days get longer and the weather gets warmer there is no mistaking that Spring and the Fallas festival is just around the corner. If I was to describe the Fallas in Valencia to anyone who has not experienced it before I would say that it’s probably the noisiest and the most creative fiesta in Spain! Every springtime on the dates of 14th-19th of March, the city of Valencia comes alive in a spectacle of fireworks, fiestas and paellas. Fallas is a … [Read more...]
A day in Barcelona
It's only an hour ago since I got back from Barcelona with the boys, my husband headed off to his business trip this morning, leaving me and the boys to get on with it for a couple of weeks. It’s nothing new of course, but once or twice a year I find myself without my sidekick, which is pretty scary when I realise that I’m the only ‘responsible’ adult in the house. We arrived at the airport at about 10:30am, leaving my husband enough time to catch his flight at 11:50. We didn’t plan to … [Read more...]
