My Top 5 Twitter Firefox Extensions

August 4, 2008  |  Web Stuff

I’ve just recently the world of micro-blogging by the form of Twitter, actually to be honest, I signed up about a year ago, but haven’t really got round to using it that much.  I guess it’s just one of those new things that you tend to sign up for because it was a  good at the time. Just recently I discovered how to get the best out of it… if there’s such a thing.

If you’re still not sure what a Twitter is, take a look at my sidebar for an example ‘tweet’.

The problem is that, I always seem to forget to update, and to be honest, I don’t have that many friends who I can follow on Twitter.  It seems to be that Facebook status updates are sufficient enough for many people. If you’re like me who is a novice stalker then trying Twitter might be a good thing.

So, I have compiled a simple list of Twitter Firefox Add Ons, some are better than others, I guess it depends what you like.

1. Twitter Bar - Just type your tweet in the address bar and click the TwitterBar icon to send it to Twitter. You can also post the URL of the page you’re currently reading by clicking the TwitterBar icon with typing in the address bar. Twitter Bar is compatible with Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 Beta.

2. Twitter Fox – Notifies you of your friends’ tweets of Twitter. This extension adds a tiny icon on the status bar that notifies you when your friends update their tweets. Also it has a small text input field to update your tweets.

3. Twit KitTwitter sidebar for Firefox. TwitKit has a 6-section interface, using tabs to separate content. You can view the Twitter public timeline, your user timeline, a list of your friends and their latest tweets, a list of your followers and their latest tweets, at replies made to you, and stats about your account.

4. Twitbin – Quickly and easily send and receive messages via twitter in your firefox browser.

5. Twitty Tunes – A FoxyTunes companion Firefox extension – it allows you to post your currently playing songs to Twitter with a click. As a bonus, you can also post the websites you’re visiting, videos you’re watching and more!
