Meme time

July 20, 2009  |  Blogging, Tags & Awards  |  3 Comments

I haven’t done a meme for a while, and I thought I’d be a good incentive to get back to blogging, to be honest most of the time I’ve been getting  bloggers block.

I could be driving or maybe washing the dishes and then that little lightbulb would come one and I’d think to myself… “Eureka! That’s something to blog about!” the idea stays there for the duration of what I was doing at the time, but then distractions passes my way and by the time you know it, it’s 11pm and the thought of getting my laptop out to write a blog entry about an idea 12 hours ago doesn’t seem as exciting. Plus, the dirty looks I get from hubby could kill if I ever contemplated writing at that time of the night, you see, he likes his after 9 ‘us time’ on the settee. Ah well, he’ll probably kill me anyway for mentioning that.

Now about this tag, actually it’s pretty good. Got it from Itisi, feel free to do it if you like, but let me know so I have a little nose at it.

Moving home! We saw a house we wanted and we decided it was for us, the school was walking distance and the kids loved it, but then 8 weeks before moving the deal fell apart =(. We started looking again and we found an ideal place, so nice and big, just fell in love with it, but again the same thing happened. But we finally settled for the house we are living in now and we love it, I guess things always happen for a reason.

When was the last time you had a really great time?

When I went for a 3 hour spa session with my sister in law, it was absoloute bliss. We chatted, relaxed, drank wine and spent most of out time in the sauna, we came out feeling floaty and chilled. =) I want to do it again!

The rules:

1. Respond and rework; answer the questions on your blog, replace one question you dislike with a question of your invention, then one more question of your own.

2. Tag eight other people. (I’m not tagging anyone on this but if you fancy having a go then please do so, and let me know)

Aveeno: Does what it says on the pack

A few weeks ago the lovely people behind Fuel My Blog have asked me to review a few products from the Aveeno® range. To be honest I have never heard of them before, but hey, I’m willing to try anything.

One thing that impressed me about Aveeno® was that it is made from natural ingredients such as colloidal oatmeal and shea butter and if you are passionate about your beauty products as I am, you would know that these ingredients really have great benefits for the condition of your skin.

I have been blessed with combination skin and have never really had problems when it comes to using different lotions, bath stuffs and moisturisers, but I have also suffered from eczema in the past and unfortunately have passed it on to my 8 year old son.

At the moment he suffers quite badly on his joints, especially in the cold weather. So, when I read that Aveeno® can be beneficial to this condition I was more eager to give it a go to see whether it would really make any difference.

bathpowderThe first product I tried was the bath powder, my son is usually particular in using new products and took a bit of persuading to try this one out, he didn’t seem to like the idea of bathing in ‘oatmeal’, but after running the powder in warm water and seeing that it didn’t really resemble a thick gooey substance he soon came round, I also found that the fragrance was mild and pleasant.

I let him soak in it for half an hour or so, I did hear him complain that there wasn’t any bubbles, but that’s kids for you!

After his bath, I have noticed that his skin seemed softer to the touch and he commented that it didn’t irritate his eczema.

Before I used to use Oilatum Bath Formula, but I find that Aveeno® does the job maybe just a little bit better as it’s not as slippery.

dailymoisturisinglotionAfter his bath we tried the Aveeno® Daily Moisturising Lotion, I found that it was easily absorbed and it didn’t leave a sticky residue. I would recommend to use this after showering or bathing to lock the moisture in your skin, thus having a silky smooth feeling to it after.

We tried the lotion a few days of trying out Aveeno®, I was really surprised how it has left my sons skin feeling and looking moisturised and nourished. He seemed to scratch less and thus leaving his eczema to heal more quickly along with the use of his normal eczema cream.

Now, I’m not saying that I have found a miracle cure for eczema, but because it’s so mild it’s suitable for children and most of all it does not contain any steroids.

creamLast but not least, I saved the Aveeno® Cream for myself, I decided to keep it in my handbag, just the right size for carrying it around. After a few days of religiously applying it on my hands, I did find my hands less dry. Its also great to use as a base for applying make up as its easily absorbed without any oiliness.

If you’re usually skeptical about new products like me, I would suggest you should give it a try, Aveeno® offers some free samples on their website, so what do you have to lose?

In 2008 Aveeno teamed up with NetDoctor.co.uk2 and surveyed people with very dry skin or conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Before the trial, many of the participants revealed having dry skin conditions had a huge impact on their lives: 94% said dry skin affects their confidence and 71% said their dry skin can stop them from carrying out their usual routine. After trialling Aveeno® Cream for three weeks, 94% felt more confident, and 98% felt there had been a change in their dry skin. The full results can be found here.

Bingkee and Gemma tagged me on this fun meme, though I can’t really call it ‘fun’. When I first found out about it, my first thoughts were GAH! No way! But hey we gotta be a sport at this one and I guess I want to make up for the few memes that I have missed over the Christmas holidays. So here we go.

Here are the rules:
1. Take a picture of yourself.. riiiiiight.. NOW!
2. DO NOT change your clothes. DO NOT fix your hair.. Just take a picture.
3. Post that picture with NO editing.
4. Post these instructions with your picture.
5. Tag 10 people to do this and leave their pics as a comment (or email me or post on your own blog)!

As you can clearly see, I have no slap on… hence the ill looking look. I hope you enjoy and have a little giggle at my expense and truly savour the real me. Hehe!

So I want to pass this to 10 unfortunate people; Ginah, Ria S, Jen, Stilettoed Praline, Ria, Kate C, MsRay, Ria (Its My Party), Miras Blog and Sheila. Goodluck girls!!!

Cheers mates!

My good blogging friends Bingkee and Kate C have decided to give me this lovely sunny “Smile Stone Award”, surprisingly I didn’t realise that I made you guys smile, considering that I seem to complain all the time on my posts (well, my husband has been having a sneak peek and he said I complain too much!) Anyways, I guess this will prove that my pals out there think differently about me, and I’m not such a miserable old cow after all!

So here are 10 reasons that made me smile today

1. When Sam said said ‘Mama’ again today, he doesn’t say it often so when he does it always gives me a reason to smile… no matter how tired I am.

2. When David took Sam out for a walk to give me a break, after having a rough night with him.

3. Then he came back and bought me some face cream and body lotion (because I’ve been complaining for days that I’ve ran out, but haven’t had the chance to get any).

4. When I learnt that my daughter has been recognised as one of the gifted kids in school.

5. I’m happy that my Plurk Karma has nearly reached 60!

6. Christmas is nearly here and I can’t wait to decorate the house.

7. When I read that Republican lawyers are heading to Alaska to take back Sara Palins $15000 campaign clothes. Bwahaha! Silly tart!

8. It’s the weekend!

9. To see that Barack Obama has his own Flickr account, while many presidents used Life magazine to showcase their election, Mr Obama just uploaded his own.

10. When Sam decided to climb into the washing machine and took all Daddys strength to get him out.

And just to make you all smile, here’s a couple of pics to prove that he’s been a little terror!

Now I would like to pass these on to the following bloggers:

- My Pink Shoelace

- Ria S
