My week in a ‘small’ nutshell…

Why does the week seem to go so quickly as I get older? I swear 2 days ago was only Monday but somehow I have seemed to have lost a few days and now another week is about to begin!

Well, Monday was a good start. My next door neighbour has decided to buy me a Camellia plant from the Harrogate Flower Show. I know he didn’t have to but I think he felt sorry for me after seeing my back yard looking a little bare after up rooting the Japanese Willow tree which was beginning to over shadow our house.

MrB and I have been pondering at a prospect of a water feature to replace the space where the tree once stood. But of course being a woman and all, I’ve opted for a pretty flower tree instead. So, lately, I’ve been harassing my neighbour (who is an equivalent of Alan Titchmarsh) on what I can put in my garden to make it look more appealing. We both decided that a Camellia plant would be best and it was a great surprise when he bought and planted it for me. So in return for his thoughfulness, I’ve decided to make him one of my lovely Ferrero Rocher Cheesecake.

On the kids front however we have a current issue to consider. My 12 year old daughter have decided that she wants to become a vegetarian after watching something at school about animal cruelty *sigh*. I guess I could go on about a number of reasons why my daughter should NOT give up eating meat, but to be honest, this topic has been the main discussion over the last week, that I don’t have the energy or passion to talk about it any more, though will update about it in my future posts.

On the positive side, we decided to get a Wii this weekend. Only manage to break one light out of the chandelier…. must be careful next time.

P.S

I also found 3 grey hairs… one darn thing for every child. I’m depressed

Summers here and all the green things

Ah it’s been a while… no entries for the last 2 months, shame on me!

Anyways, its all been good, summer has finally come (I think). So much to do, from doing our first veggie crop in the garden to decorating the house.

I think I have reached that point in my life where growing my own hanging baskets and cultivating cherry tomatoes becomes the new highlight of the summer.

Spending my weekends at the local garden centre has become an expensive but also a rewarding habit, and actually feeling a little  inspired while watching this years Chelsea Flower show, wishing I could have gone and maybe next year I can drag the whole family to revel at the displays. Who knows, I think this gardening thing is starting to‘grow’ on me.

Usually, I tend to ‘kill’ plants, and can’t help but feel a little envious of people who seem to grow an effortless but amazing range of garden eye candy. So this year David and I have made a small effort, and surprisingly here are the results:

I guess there is hope for me yet.
